JOSHUA MEIER
Attorney
Laura Meier is a California Family Trust and Special Needs Attorney and the founder of the Meier Law Firm. She is dedicated to helping families move beyond the uncertainty of life’s “what ifs” by guiding them through estate planning, providing peace of mind and security for their future.
Laura started the Meier Law Firm in 2010 from her kitchen table, leaving behind the big law firm life to create a practice centered on genuine care and support. She wanted families to feel as if they had a trusted lawyer within their own circle—someone who offers sound legal advice with a personal touch. Today, thanks to the trust and support of her clients, the Meier Law Firm is recognized as one of Orange County’s premier estate planning firms, with over 300 five-star reviews and a team of eighteen professionals dedicated to enhancing the lives of those they serve. Laura is deeply grateful for the families who have placed their confidence in her and her team throughout the years.
Beyond her work with private clients, Laura is honored to be the author of “The Family Nest Egg” (Diversion Books and Penguin Random House, 2021), “Good Parents Worry, Great Parents Plan” (2014), and “Guided by Grace: A Catholic Journey Through Wills, Trusts, and Estate Planning” (2024, granted imprimatur by Most Rev. Kevin William Vann, J.C.D.,D.D.). She and her husband, Josh, also co-hosted the “If Life Were Perfect” podcast, which was featured among Apple Podcasts’ New and Noteworthy Top Shows in 2019. Laura has been privileged to contribute to various national media outlets, including NBC-TV, ABC-TV, CBS-TV, FOX-TV, ESPN Radio, NBC Radio, and publications like Worth Magazine and The Fiscal Times. She is frequently invited to speak at universities, churches, corporations, and nonprofits, sharing her knowledge on financial and estate planning topics.
Before founding her own firm, Laura was fortunate to work at a national law firm, advising California cities and agencies. She earned her Juris Doctor from J. Reuben Clark Law School (BYU, 2003) and her Bachelor of Arts in English from California State University Long Beach (2000), where she also played on the Women’s Soccer Team. Laura remains an active member of Wealth Counsel and Elder Law Counsel, two nationally recognized programs for estate planning attorneys that provide top training and continuing education.
Most importantly, Laura and her husband, Josh, are blessed to be the parents of four children—Conrad, Jack, Kate, and Andrew. The Meier family lives in Newport Beach and is committed to giving back to their community through various philanthropic efforts. Laura has served as a Board Member at United Cerebral Palsy Orange County, a Faith Formation Teacher and Marriage Encounter Leader at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church, and as the District Four Representative on the Newport Beach Environmental Quality Affairs Committee. In 2018, she was humbled to receive a U.S. Congressional Certificate of Recognition as a Community Hero for her efforts in educating women in finance.
